Clean a Panini Grill

You’ve probably seen a lot of websites out there that focus on panini recipes that have mouth watering pictures of delicious sandwiches.  Well this post is about the ugly part that comes afterward.  I’m going to describe how to clean a panini grill.

Those ridges or grooves in a panini maker are what gives a panini those fantastic grill marks.  They also make cleaning a panini grill a hassle.  Oh sure the new models have removable and dishwasher safe grill plates that make cleanup a breeze.  But what do you do if you have an older model?  You going to have to scrub.

First thing you need to do before you clean your panini grill is to unplug it.  After that, it’s just a matter of elbow grease.  You really just have to scrub it.  And never use any steel wool or else you’ll scratch the non-stick surface.

I just stumbled across these Foreman Grill Sponges on Amazon and they’re very similar to what I use.  Leave it to good old George Foreman to sell a great tool to clean his George Foreman Lean Mean Fat- Reducing Grilling Machines.  These pads will also work great on a panini grill.

The Foreman Grill Sponge combines a polyester sponge with scouring pad and it will not scratch your grill.  They’re sized to fit right in your hand and also to clean inside the grooves.

Thanks to George Foreman we can not only grill burgers inside but we can also clean a panini grill.  Thanks George.
